Based on his book Why Evolution Is True (http://www.amazon.com/Why-Evolution-True-Jerry-Coyne/dp/0670020532), Professor Coyne will present fascinating data, collected by today’s scientists, demonstrating that species are splitting in two, that natural selection changes animals and plants before our eyes, and that past events captured in the fossil record reveal a consistent and stunning pattern of change over time.
Jerry A. Coyne, Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Chicago, is a leader in the field of evolutionary biology and a spokesman for bringing basic evolutionary thinking to the public. His recent book, Why Evolution Is True, is a succinct and accessible summary of the facts supporting Darwinian evolution. Besides Why Evolution is True, Jerry has written over 110 refereed, scientific papers and 80 other articles, book reviews, and columns, as well as a scholarly book about his field. He is a frequent contributor to The New Republic, The Times Literary Supplement, and other popular periodicals.
