RESTful Web Services / Choices in Mobile App Development

2 presentations for the price of 1! Instead of our usual format, we're going to have two speakers presenting on two different topics this meeting. They will be two mini-presentations so don’t worry about it being any later than usual. This meeting, ASUG member Mahlon Gumbs, will be giving a presentation on "
RESTful Web Services," while ASUG member and resident SpringSource Engineer, Roy Clarkson, will present “
Choices in Mobile App Development.” For more information on RESTful Web Services check out:

O'Reilly's Book The meeting will begin at 6:30pm allowing members time to network, arrive and enjoy pizza. At 7pm, ASUG will give an introductory welcome, and will be shortly followed by the presentations. After the presentations we will give away prizes that have been donated by our sponsors. As always, everyone has the option to head downstairs to Aja for networking and drinks after the meeting. Note: Parking at the One Alliance Center is $8. This meeting will be much shorter than our inaugural meeting, so if you wish to go to Aja after the meeting they will validate part of your parking. If parking is a problem, some members park at Phipps Plaza for free and walk over. ASUG does NOT validate parking.

I got some nice information from Roy's presentation. I've developed for Palm's webOS and have been playing with Android. It was great to get some info on some of the cross-platform tools available.

The presentations were well prepared and the speakers were knowledgeable and eloquent. I think trying to squeeze 2 presentations into one session resulted in less detail than I would have preferred. Ultimately, there was very little Spring usage during this particular event.

Contrary to Pratik's post, there is no free beer this meeting. However, I think that's a great suggestion for one our meetings during the holiday season!
