This group is for ALL of us that LOVE going to movies and plays. Specifically, it's for LGBT folk and all of our cool, progressive straight friends. We'll generally meet one Saturday night per month at either Tara, Cinebistro, Midtown Art, Lefont Plaza, Actors Express, and 7 Stages theaters to see the latest critically acclaimed movie or play.
Here are some important things to know before joining this group:
#1. Anyone wanting to join this group must agree to always abide by a code of conduct. That is, everyone within the group is treated with kindness, dignity, and respect regardless of age, identity, or gender. We also will respect other theater-goers by ALWAYS keeping our phones silent during movies.
#2. This group is dedicated to well-reviewed , occasionally independent, gay themed (if available), high brow (but fun) movies and plays. Some examples of events we might meet for include: "Keep the light on" "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" "Skyfall" "The Sessions" "Looper" "The Dark Knight Rises" "Cedar Rapids", "EQUUS", and "Man of Steel".
#3. Our Meetup theaters will generally be (but not always) Cinebistro, Tara, Midtown. Art, Lefont Plaza, Actors Express, and 7 Stages. Additionally -- depending on showtimes -- we will grab a quick bite or a drink at a nearby venue, either before of after the event. We ask that all members -- as best our schedules allow -- participate in these pre- or post-event gatherings and "mingle." In other words, let's put the "meet" in Meetup!
#4. Members agree that events will ALWAYS be held on the first Saturday night of the month and to, the best of their ability, to contribute towards defraying the cost of this Meetup group (i.e., $10 annually).
#5. Members are expected to always honor their RSVPs (to show up as you said you would) and understand that more than one "no show" for an event you RSVPed for result in being dropped from the membership rolls of this group. This is non-negotiable.
