About The Auckland Movie Fans Meetup Group

Hi movie fans

My name is Annetta and I am the organizer of the The Auckland Movie Fans Meetup Group with the help of assistant organizers who can also schedule meetups.

The group is about using our love of movies to meet new people, make new friends, see movies we possibly wouldn't see normally and have a good time whilst doing it

Open to suggestions
Dying to see a film but it hasn’t been posted? Let me know by using the Calendar suggestions feature (The link can be found on the left side of the home page called Calendar) or by sending an email through the Meetup movie website – one of the assistant organizers or me will do the rest. It would help if you give us an idea of when you are available so we can consider these details when making the arrangements.

You can also use the Message Boards feature. The link can be found on the left side of the home page called Message Board. You can use these message boards to organise car pooling to events, discuss future events, propose new events in fact whatever you like as long as you play nicely together. Maybe you want to be spontaneous and go to a movie the same day and want to see if anyone else is available?

Basically, there's lots of options and features available through the meetup.com site.

The More the Merrier
You may not be aware of this but when you RSVP you can also include guests (use the drop down to tell us how many). Bring your friends – they’re welcome!

Many hands make light work
I tend to post films for the Rialto (Newmarket) and Academy (CBD) theatres – particularly the (many and frequent!) film festivals. It would be really good to have more assistant organizers to create more diversity and choice for members – e.g. more mainstream movies and at a variety of locations (i.e. include Western, Eastern and Southern suburbs).

The idea is that more postings from more willing participants will generate regular outings for members to choose from and help share the load, as there are only so many films I can see in a month!

Let me know if you are interested in becoming an assistant organizer. All you have to do is make a post when you want to see a film, and do the meet and greet at the specified meet up time and place – it’s easy!
