My UNIX experience, in general, goes back 22 years with SunOS/Solaris, Digital UNIX, and HP-UX. When Linux first became popular to the masses, I installed and coded on Mandrake as my first Linux Distro and never looked back. My preference these days is anything Debian-based (I'm lazy, for the most part). Oddly enough, I currently run Fedora on my home media server (Amahi.org). I have some pretty good sys admin skills from my previous job. I don't use them as much as I used to, though. I'm pretty good with installers and figuring out dependency issues when they arise. I still love the command line and do most of my work these days from that. I'm also a Vim user and firmly aligned in that camp against all things EMACS.. (j/k)
I'm looking to network and collaborate with people and hopefully learn something new.
Hi All, I'm a web developer with Morris Communications' E-Media team in Augusta, Ga. My career began at Hayes Microcomputers in 1986 and has continued for 25+ years. I am also married to my wife, Beth, a school teacher in Columbia County.
It is a very knowledgeable group and the background as a whole is pretty diverse. I think it will be a fun bunch to work with on future Hackathons.
