The purpose of this Meetup is to provide a way for barefoot/minimalist running enthusiasts and newbies to meet, run together, socialize, share tips and techniques, and enjoy the occasional clinic with a visiting barefoot/minimalist running expert.

If you don't know much about barefoot/minimalist running, check out this instructive TV interview with Barefoot Running authors Michael Sandler and Jessica Lee.  And if you like reading material, see the equally instructive article So, You Wanna Start Running Barefoot, by one of the stars of the popular book Born to Run, Barefoot Ted.

For many people, the motivation to get into barefoot/minimalist running is that they find it more fun than running with traditional shoes. Hitting the earth with your bare or nearly bare feet can be a good feeling, and without traditional, bulky shoes you get more sensory information and have more freedom to make adjustments to your form over time, allowing for an increasingly relaxed and energized way of running.

Many other people get into barefoot/minimalist running in order to reduce strain and injury, since barefooting or minimalist running, once you get the hang of the form, ends up putting significantly less overall strain on the body.

This group is open to anyone with an interest in barefoot/minimalist running.  If you know a lot about the practice, come share your knowledge with us! If you're totally new to it, come have fun getting into it with us! All are welcome.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
