Ragen Chastain of Dances with Fat and Theresa Woodsong of Living Light in Your Body will lead you to move your body and have fun as you experience two different styles of dance, both taught specifically for bodies of every shape and size. You’ll get to work with two fierce fit fatties who love dancing and love sharing the joy of dance with others. Have a blast and move your body in a safe, supportive, environment.
Ragen Chastain is a Three Time National Dance Champion, Choreographer, and Certified Fitness Professional. In additional to teaching dance workshops around the country, Ragen speaks and writes about Self Esteem, Body Image, and Health at Every Size. Ragen is the author of the popular blog DancesWithFat.org which has readers on six continents, and she has presented at Universities across the country including USC, Michigan State, and Caltech, and to corporations including Apple and Google. Ragen directed and choreographed international award winning adult jazz troupe Body Positive Dance, performed her own choreography to a packed house at SXSW 2011 with Fat Bottom Cabaret, and will soon be launching a series of online dance classes for bodies of all sizes.
Jazz for Every Body: Ragen will teach un-intimidating choreography in a unique way that makes it suitable for people of all size and all abilities. You’ll have fun, move your body and be expressive within the framework of choreography.
Theresa Woodsong is a certified Blue Belt NiaTM instructor and author of the program, Living Light in YOUR BodyTM One of her goals is to share the joy of movement with people of all sizes and physical conditions. Outside the dance studio Theresa uses her experience as a Nia teacher, certified professional coach and Feng Shui practitioner to help her clients learn to discover, nurture and celebrate everything that is right, good and wonderful about them selves.
NiaTM: is a sensory-based movement practice that empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Theresa will share some fundamental principals of NiaTM, then guide you through simple choreography that's designed to help you enjoy and express your body's unique way.
Important Note: $15 is for pre-paid registrations. Cost at the door will be $20, and contingent upon availability of space.
