Tyler Hobbs will be giving us an introduction to the new native protocol in Cassandra. This protocol is an alternative to the traditional thrift interface to Cassandra. It allows for more powerful clients by providing features like:

• Automatic paging

• Pushed notifications from Cassandra

• Operations pipelining

Additionally, Tyler will be giving an overview of the current drivers that exist for the Native Protocol and how they work. There are currently drivers for:

• Java

• C#

• Python (beta)

• C++ (beta)

Tyler is an experienced member of the Cassandra community. He is the main author of pycassa (thrift) and the python-driver (native protocol), as well as an active developer of Cassandra.
