Details

Hey everyone,

The Austin Cassandra group has grown to over 600 members at this point, which is fantastic. Always great to see new faces at the meetups. Given that fact, I think it's time we had a few beginner level talks for anyone in the meetup that may be a bit hesitant to come to some of the more advanced talks where they might not be quite up to speed.

So this summer, we're introducing the Austin Cassandra Summer School. In June, July, and August we'll be doing a series of introductory talks to Cassandra. If you are pretty new to Cassandra and looking to get started, these will be perfect starting points for the journey. If you are already a Cassandra expert, you should come and help spread the Cassandra knowledge. Maybe you'll even refresh your memory on anything you've TTL'd from your data banks.

Cassandra Summer School: Cassandra Architecture 101

Our first talk will be a high level introduction to Cassandra. This will include:

• Distributed database basics

• Cluster architecture

• Data distribution and replication

• Node Architecture

• and more

Schedule:

6:30-7:00 - Pizza and drinks

7:00-8:00 - Cassandra Summer School: Cassandra Architecture 101

8:00-8:30 - Q & A

Parking

Capital factory will provide parking validation tickets that will lower the price for parking at the Omni Hotel to 5 dollars. Otherwise, there is street parking in the area as well as multiple for pay lots close by.
