Life's Myths

Commonly held myths about happiness and life will be discussed at Lifetree Café tonight.

The program, titled “Life’s Myths: What You Believe That’s Wrong,” features a filmed interview with Oliver Burkeman, author of The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can’t Stand Positive Thinking.

“There’s a certain kind of positive thinking that actually has the opposite effect,” says Burkeman, who debunks common myths about what leads to happiness.

Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Snacks and beverages are available.

To reach the meeting location take the fly-over from IH35 to 290E (going to Houston) and stay on the Berkman exit lane. Stay on the feeder road past Berkman and take the third street to the right, Northeast Drive. Go on Northeast Drive about 1/2 mile until you come to the 4-way stop. The church is on the right hand side. Turn right onto North Hampton and take the first driveway to the back of the parking lot where Building 400 is located.

Talking about whether positive thinking, setting goals or thinking big brings happiness was a thought provoking discussion.

This topic should be very interesting and might cause us to change the way we view happiness.

Sorry Anastasia, but I understand! The traffic in Austin can be very difficult in the evening. Perhaps you can come sometime when its not so busy. I think we will have a meeting on Memorial Day, that that might not be so bad if you are available.

The location is a bit far for me, with traffic and work not getting out, would never make it

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
