Shoal Creek Monday Night Recovery Ride

This will be an easier ride (on the road, not a trail), geared towards a recovery ride and a ride for beginners. If there are enough people, we can break into two groups of slow and slower or slow and fast.  This is a no drop ride for beginners and slower riders.

We'll meet in the office parking lot next to Suzi's on Shoal Creek just south of Anderson Lane. We have a couple of options in terms of distance and can increase distance by a few different loops. Distance options are 9 miles and up. All levels are welcome.

Meet at 5:45, wheels down at 6pm.

Helmet and shoes (no flip flops) required, as is water. We want you to be safe :)

Any type of bike is welcome. No experience necessary.  Looking forward to seeing you!

PS, gearing is intuitive. Generally, small chain ring for speeds under 15 mph and climbs, large chain ring for everything else. Use rear cassette to trim. Left hand front chain ring, right is rear cassette.

    Tonyia,

If you are right handed, you should not have any trouble at all, and your right foot should be the first to clip in and out. Could be your pedals are adjusted too tight. I have used SPD, Look, and now Speedplay (the best) and if there was an issue, it was that the pedals needed to be loosened. If they are Speedplays, the cleat needs to be adjusted or cleaned.

Pretty new at this. My fitness level is good but I have trouble getting my right foot clipped in, which really slows me down. I am also trying to learn the right time/place to change gears.

I have only done mountain biking and I do not have a road bike (not for long), but I do 9+ mile rides once a week, so let's see how this goes.

I am so excited to see new people coming tonight (I still love you veterans ;-))

The basic ride is only 9 miles long. The slowest we've ever gone is about 9 mph average with new 1st timers on bikes other than road bikes. That means that you are riding for about an hour, or maybe a little less.

We can even make it shorter for you if necessary. This is the best ride in town for the raw beginner. Try it, you'll be hooked!

    See you tonight!

I am coming and I have a slow bike. I been taking it easy. I want to make the 9 miles. I will see what my breathing says I can do. I am trying new treatment to see if my breathing can keep up with my exercise level.
