Hello, fantastic Users of Drupal in Austin!
I'm writing you to see if there's interest in a one-day workshop focused on Semantic Web technologies and Drupal 7. You would have the opportunity to learn from Stéphane Corlosquet, who was primarily responsible for implementing RDF in Drupal 7 core.
If you're not familiar with the Semantic Web, it is a set of next-generation web technologies that allow computers to tailor data to humans more efficiently. In the past year or so, search engines have added all sorts of new human-centric capabilities: you can search for recipes, businesses, reviews, results from a particular time period, and other conveniences. These features all come directly from this emerging technology, and it ships with Drupal 7 out of the box!
If there is enough interest, the all-day workshop would be held on Saturday, October 1st. It would include an intro to the Semantic Web and RDF, followed by Drupal-specific sessions showing you how to work with the data (and make it work for you!). Note that there will be a small fee to attend.
If you are interested, please respond to this email to help us gauge attendance. We can't put on this awesome event unless we hear from you!
