Declaring the Value - An introduction to F#
Details
I'm pleased to announce the first talk for our newly formed F# meetup group. Chance Coble from Blacklight Solutions will be giving an hour long introduction to F#. We will also be talking about the direction for the group.
Synopsis
Functional programming has entered a new era over the past few years, having received much credit in the world of high performance data processing at Twitter and in emerging tools like Spark. However, as a functional programming language on .NET, F# is still a relatively unused and misunderstood language. In this talk I will introduce the fundamentals of functional programming and F# and motivate them with real world examples. I will review the simplicity of complex algorithms that can be achieved, including the potential for high performance computing. Real world examples of programs that take advantage of the concise syntax and declarative style of F# to overcome challenges in artificial intelligence will be explored.
