He will be giving the presentation 'Applying Groovy Closures for fun and productivity' which should be fun an interesting!

Dr Venkat is a great, enthusiastic, clear speaker. It was fun to see him clean up the Java with all Java's noise. And the recursive programming resulting in an iterative process was cool. Most of all, ReachForce's folks were welcoming to us newbies and really made us feel comfortable. Thank you for sponsoring New Iron! Ryan, will there be anything between now and G48?

Wow. that was more information and motivation in a short amount of time. The way he started the presentation with the difference between Lambdas and Closure still rings on my mind. Being a Groovy learner for the last couple of months, this presentation just removed my misconception that Groovy is just an expression of Java syntax in cleaner/concise manner, and it opened a new way of thinking about Groovy - the closures, and its benefits of functional programming style. I think I owe this group a serious shot on Growler. Thanks.

I am also travelling that week, so I will not be able to make it. If I could vote, I would vote for GPars. Take good notes.

The only place downtown that I can think of that might be able to host is the Capital Factory. They will probably be booked that day, but it couldn't hurt to ask them.
