Jeff Brateman, Sr Software Engineer, Paypal SDK

"SDKs are APIs too!"

Companies are increasingly opening their web APIs to developers to establish a presence among the developer community, and engage developers to leverage their products. Generally the focus is on RESTful APIs which are easily consumed by programmers. While necessary, sometimes an SDK is also required to provide some client-side features. This talk discusses the benefits and drawbacks of building client-side SDKs, API considerations of those SDKs, and the support required to maintain these client-side products.

Jeff Brateman is a senior software engineer for the Android Mobile SDKs at PayPal. He thinks a lot about refactoring and build systems. When he's not coding, he is whipping his dog into shape.
