Cross Platform Development with Portable Class Libraries

Cross Platform Development with Portable Class Libraries

In the past, developing for more than one platform in .NET was an absolute nightmare. With the introduction of Portable Class Libraries, targeting multiple frameworks has never been easier. By checking a few boxes, you can develop for phone, tablets and desktops. Well, not quite. Things are easier, but still not seamless. In this session, we'll look at what Portable Class Libraries bring to the table. We'll see how to organize your code, how to deal with stubborn differences between frameworks, and how to build, test and deploy. Finally, we'll look at how PCLs and Xamarin can help target new frameworks, including iOS and Android devices, making developing and targeting multiple devices a breeze.

I won't be able to make it tonight. My car broke down, and things are hectic. Sorry for the short notice.

I'm looking forward to tonight's talk! Note: the building door to the MS office will be locked, but we'll have someone in the lobby to let people in. I'll also post my mobile number on the door so if you find yourself arriving late, you can simply text me.
