It'll soon be second Monday of the month, and that means a Ruby & Rails meet up. We're in our new meeting space at Tech Ranch. There is plenty of street parking in addition to the parking lot (which I'm told can get packed).
Our lightning rounds are designed to let attendees talk and interact as much as possible and for the presenter to be more of a Discussion-Guide than capital-P Presenter God. So every 15 min when the buzzer sounds, we vote if we'd like to continue for another round expanding on that topic, or if we'd like to hear something new. New to Rails? Even better: take just 10 minutes and tell us one incredible thing you learned recently that made you go "wow".
This Month: emphasis on Newbie Knowledge -- something that if someone emphasized this from the get-go, you'd be oh-so-further ahead:
Topic 1: "Block, Procs, Lambdas: WTF??" - John Quarto-vonTivadar
Topic 2: "Basics of JRuby" - James Higgenbotham
(please note that our scheduled prezo on "Everything is an Object; Everything is a Method" has been postponed due to a conflict with the speaker's schedule)
