Epic Boardgames: Eclipse!

The shadows of the great civilizations are about to eclipse the galaxy.

The galaxy has been a peaceful place for many years. After the ruthless Terran-Hegemony War [masked]), much effort has been employed by all major spacefaring species to prevent the terrifying events from repeating themselves. The Galactic Council was formed to enforce precious peace and it has taken many courageous efforts to prevent the escalation of malicious acts. Nevertheless, tension and discord are growing among the seven major species and in the Council itself. Old alliances are shattering and hasty diplomatic treaties are made in secrecy. A confrontation of the superpowers seems inevitable. Only the outcome of the galactic conflict remains to be seen. Which faction will emerge victorious and lead the galaxy under its rule?

Lead your people to victory! A game of Eclipse places you in control of a vast civilization, competing for success with its rivals. On each game round you expand your civilization by exploring and colonizing new areas, researching technologies and building spaceships to wage war with.

Darn, this conflicts with a TM contest I feel obligated to attend. If you decide to move it to the afternoon, I might be able to make it (the contest starts at 8:00 am).

This event goes for 13 hours? Is that how long it takes to play Eclipse? Boardgamegeek states it takes 120 minutes to play the game, which I realize is probably a conservative estimate, but that is a big difference from 13 hours.

I want to give this game a try. I've been looking for a good sci fi themed game to add to my collection besides Star Trek Catan. LOL

Haven't played this before, but it looks fun. I'll have to remember to see how my schedule looks as this event gets closer.

Yay! Just last night I was wondering when I would have an opportunity to play this game again!
