Nerd Nite Austin

We all know that learning is more fun when you’re drinking with friends and colleagues. Thus, Nerd Nite is a monthly event held in more than 50 cities across the globe during which several folks give 18-21-minute fun-yet-informative presentations across all disciplines – while the audience drinks along. And there are often bands, acrobats, trivia, and other shenanigans as well. Imagine learning about everything from math feuds or the science of the Simpsons, to the genealogy of Godzilla or debunking beer myths. Fun, right? As nerds and non-nerds like to say, Nerd Nite Is Like the Discovery Channel™…with Beer!

Couldn't go; my car wasn't working properly. So, I had to work on that.

In the past, we have had a tough time finding each other at the event. So, (1) please try to get there as close to 7:00 as possible when seats are available, and (2) make sure your meetup profile has a clear picture of your face so we can all spot each other more easily (I'm talking 'bout you, John K, Berlice Bassas, and Thomas Faggard). I hope to see y'all there tomorrow night!

Just moved here in June, gotta say I'm impressed with the amount of freedom of expression! Can't wait to get this job bit settled and start socializing!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
