How I Learned to Love AWS with Mike Pav

Details
Join us on December 3rd to hear Mike Pav talk about how Spanning learned to love AWS! We'll start meeting up at around 7:00PM and the talk will begin at 7:30PM.
Talk Summary
Spanning is a heavy AWS consumer, but takes a decidedly old school approach to scalability. Mike will talk about how AWS enables Spanning to grow effectively and describes several of the architectural decisions that are in place. Through the talk, you will likely think "yeah, that totally makes sense" a few times, and likely also say "ouch, that's gonna hurt" once or twice as well. For those of you playing buzzword bingo, we will touch on much of the following: AWS, IAM, SQS, SES, RDS, EC2, EBS, CloudWatch, Route53, AutoScale, S3, and ElasticSearch.
Speaker Bio
Mike is the VP of Engineering at Spanning, joining the company at it's inception roughly 3 years ago. He has bounced around through several startups and enterprise class companies over the last 15 years but always comes back to SaaS style companies. Mike started his career in the US Army leading a team of soldiers through Desert Storm and holds a BA in Physics and Philosophy from Knox College and an MS in Computer Science from The George Washington University. When not in the office, he spends time running, growing organic vegetables, and trying to stay up late enough to catch some live music.
After
We'll be heading up to a bar downtown after the presentation to continue discussions. We hope you can join us!
