Bazaarvoice's Infrastructure with Victor Trac

We're happy to announce Victor Trac from Bazaarvoice will be speaking about their infrastructure for our August meetup!  Baazarvoice is also graciously sponsoring the meetup so we'll have food and drinks.  More details to come!

The Talk

Bazaarvoice serves traffic on some of the world's busiest websites, including giants like dell.com, walmart.com, and samsung.com. At peak, we serve over 50,000 requests per second of highly dynamic, user-generated content to hundreds of millions of users world-wide. This presentation details the evolution of Bazaarvoice's infrastructure as we expanded from a single co-located facility, to using AWS initially as a disaster recovery solution, to eventually developing a global hybrid architecture that uses many of the best AWS features like VPC, Autoscale, ELB, and more. We'll dig deep into lessons learned as well as explain the pros and cons of our many design decisions.

The Speaker

Victor Trac is the Cloud Systems Architect at Bazaarvoice, Inc, where he helps to design and build tools and systems that reach out to hundreds of millions of users world-wide. Prior to Bazaarvoice, he worked for the US Department of Defense building real-time collaboration systems using Open Source Software. He holds a B.S. Electrical Engineering from Clemson University.

Given an audience of veritable critics, Victor was very personable, both comfortable and candid throughout his presentation of the evolution of the architecture. Tough act to follow.
