Announcing a new Meetup for The Austin Writers Meetup Group!

What: Wordgarden Workshop

When: Saturday, January 23,[masked]:00 PM

Registration: $15.00 per person

Where:
Heath's home
3014 West Wm Cannon #1927
Austin, TX 78745
[masked]

This workshop will focus on a concrete technique for moving beyond writer's block, and will teach a valuable method of brainstorming, writing excercise, and idea formulation at the same time.

Wordgardens are a technique for creating a pool of keywords which can then be used in different ways to guide countless unique writing exercises. Through the use of wordgardens, one can more easily tackle tasks such as worldbuilding (crafting a believable background world for your fiction), try a new idea to loosen up your work in progress, or eliminate writer's block. Past Wordgarden Workshops have focused on these tasks.

This Wordgarden Workshop will introduce the technique at its most flexible, and guide participants through several hands-on writing exercises using the words we've come up with in the workshops so far. It is appropriate for writers of any genre or level, and the techniques can be used in any writing situation as a catalyst for creation. Whether working in fiction, nonfiction, journaling, experimental writing, essays, poetry, or beyond, wordgardens can spark unforeseen possibilities.

For the exercises to work, seating is limited to 8 RSVP'd attendees. The attendance fee for the workshop is currently $15 per person. This fee gets you a printed version of the lesson plan, materials for the exercises, future updates to the resources, and an online Subscription to the site where these and future materials are archived. Over time, new word sets are being made available to Subscribers on the site. Repeat attendees are welcomed!

To see some of the open-access samples from past workshops, feel free to skim the archive site. Other resources are visible to subscribers and workshop attendees.

Thanks!
