Capybara Suites of Unusual Size

They exist. Outside-in test-driven development is a great way to ensure building the exact business requirements with just the right code and comprehensive test coverage. Over time however, the resulting integration test suites can become slow, brittle, and unwieldy, especially when there's legacy code involved. In this talk, we discuss the history and best practices of this methodology, and techniques to get the benefits of these test suites while avoiding or minimizing their liabilities.

Bio: Trace Wax is Managing Director of thoughtbot's new NYC office. After a career in user experience design, Trace became a coder by pair programming with numerous wizardly developers, then teaching as many people as possible. He has led development projects for Pivotal Labs, Obie Fernandez's DueProps, and several NYC startups, and was a user experience researcher and designer at Nuance. He is passionate about building things people want with beautiful design and code.
