Non-fiction blogging, online content writing, article writing, and editing. I write at the nexus of science, public policy and activism to inform my readers about problems and issues our state, the country and the world face. I write from a left-leaning position, and sticking to the facts is paramount. I'm trying to bring back reason to a world that seems to have lost it. I think changing peoples' minds happens fastest when individual peoples' faces and stories are shared with those who might never meet someone they will see on my blog. I incorporate embedded video often to introduce a post subject, or to share a story I feel is important for others to know. I particularly advocate for LGBTQ rights, civil rights and human rights. I discuss what I believe civil rights ought to include in America in the 21st century. I'm a mom of a 17 year old son, a lesbian and a total geek, and it shows.
Mainly motivation, and after attending my first meeting Oct. 8, I have a lot to learn and I want to learn, and I feel the group has a lot to teach.
I'd like to attend a couple of times before I commit to having my work critiqued. So far, I think having my work critiqued by the group would be valuable.
I've been a beginning writer for 5 years, and if I'm going to keep this up, I'd like to be a lot better at it. I enjoy it, but I have a lot to learn. I also need to speed up; go from idea to finished article in a few hours. I just started freelancing on Elance this weekend and would like freelance writing to be a part of my income. I'm thinking through writing a how-to ebook (I have one in mind and 3500 words so far), I want to improve the quality of writing I do on my blogs, my main one in particular.
I'm a mom, lesbian, math/science tutor, LGBTQ rights advocate, blogger & occasionally a freelance writer. I'm looking to make freelance writing an income stream. I'm a chemist by education with a plethora of liberal arts classes. I love to read.
nice to see everyone! i've been stuck at work for months
