I love fiction. When I was younger, I would read anything that involved fantasy or sci-fi. Most of my work involves fantasy genres geared towards older audiences/young adults. I love Tolkien's works, and the process of world building, yet I find myself somewhat overwhelmed at times. It's my hope that getting together and discussing different techniques will help inspire me and give me new insight.
The workshops I would be most interested in would be motivation, technique, and writing skills. I have not considered the marketing aspect, but I recognize the importance of it and would be interested to know what it involved.
Hesitantly, I would say yes. I understand that the process of becoming a writing is wrought with rejection and judgement. For me, I have yet to develop that "hardened skin", but that is why I (and I think most of us) am here. Learning to motivate ourselves, developing self-confidence in our abilities, and inspiring each other to become better writers is what I see these workshops being all about.
Right now, I'm writing a fiction story. It began as a side project, grew into something quite large, and has been ongoing for a few years now. And though I don't think I will ever publish it, I want to finish it to prove to myself that I can do this and that I can achieve my goals as a writer.
Hey, I'm Lauren and I've lived in Baton Rouge my whole life. My current career is deeply rooted in nature, but now I want to start incorporating my enthusiasm for the woods into my writing. I love discussing and speaking with people about writing.
