This is an annual hike that Donna and I have done since 2009. Some might call it Saddleback Ridge but for this hike we have renamed it, since on Donna's Birthday Bushwack in 2009, she got rattled at by a rattler as we walked past it. This is the ridgeline in between the end of Blacketts & Thimble Peak.
We will go up Phoneline about 2.9 miles and then bushwack up to the saddle off the end of Blacketts Ridge. We will then proceed up the long, tall ridgeline to the end of it which has great views directly across at Thimble.
Coming back down we will proceed back down to the saddle but instead of going down to Phoneline we will proceed up a steep, narrow chute over Blacketts Ridge and then down the Blacketts Ridge trail to the Sabino Visitor Center.
This is a difficult hike with a lot of nasty bushwacking involved. It is an advanced hike for experienced hikers only.
The numbers for this hike are approximately 8 miles round trip and 3,000' elevation gain.
Bring plenty of snacks and water.
You will be hiking at your own risk!
