Why are you joining this group?

I'm joining because I love boardgames and being around open and accepting people. I'd be happy if I found new friends in the area through this group, but at the very least it sounds like a good group to play some boardgames with.

What kind of activities would you like to see happen?

I'm happy to play any game, though I generally try and avoid arbitrary social games, Apples to Apples excluded. I'm not so much a fan of games you have to argue to win. Games I'm familiar with: Settlers of Catan (mostly basic & seafarers), Scrabble, Apples to Apples, Cards Against Humanity, 7 Wonders, Dominion, Hive, Munchkin, Smallworld, Fluxx, Gloom, Cthulu Dice, Quinto... probably a few others... and always happy to learn others!

Don't you hate answering these questions for every meet-up group? Sorry!

Additional note: I actually joined Meetup after seeing (and missing) a boardgame event hosted by this group at the Albatross. Obviously I was a but confused, thinking this was specifically a queer boardgame group, but all the above information still holds true. I'm still figuring out what being queer means to me, and am happy to have joined this group. Hopefully I can make it to some non-boardgame events as well!

I'm new to the Bay area, and I absolutely love it here! Living in Oakland and working in SF, it's very refreshing to finally be someplace where I can be myself. I am 26, identify as cis-male and am just starting to be publicly open about being queer.
