Here Are This Sunday’s 2 Topics (April 28th) (Voted in last Sunday)1) Multiculturalism Vs Melting Pot - Which Works? Neither? Other?
In reference to political science, multiculturalism can be defined as a state's capacity to effectively and efficiently deal with cultural plurality within its sovereign borders.
Whether to support a melting-pot or multicultural approach has developed into an issue of much debate within some countries. For example, the French and British governments and populace are currently debating whether Islamic cultural2) DEI - Diversity, Equity, Inclusion - Success or Failure?
Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) or Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) are organizational frameworks which seek to promote the fair treatment and full participation of all people, particularly groups who have historically been underrepresented or subject to discrimination on the basis of identity or disability. These three notions (diversity, equity, and inclusion) together represent "three closely linked values" which organizations seek to institutionalize through DEI frameworks.

All 194 members of the United Nations have ratified the Geneva Conventions whose goal is to limit the barbarity of warfare. Among other things, the conventions deal with safeguarding civilian lives in conflict zones, and proportionality of force used. Yet military-grade spyware (Pegasus) and AI targeting programs (Lavender, The Gospel, and Where's Daddy?) are available for sale to state and non-state actors worldwide. All were developed by Israel, and all are in use in the war on Gaza. The targeting AI's sift massive amounts of civilian communications to generate thousands of targets which are passed on to armament systems. Human screeners may spend 20 seconds or less verifying the targets. The AIs are enabled by big tech, including Google.

MPs take a generous pay hike while Trudeau raises costs on the rest of us. That is, as of April 1 it costs more to fill your tank and more to buy a drink after work, but you know who won’t notice, federal MPs who just got a big raise. The federal carbon tax just increased from $65 a tonne to $80 a tonne and despite all the evidence presented to him, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is still telling you that you are better off, claiming eight out of ten families will get back more than they pay. However, the Parliamentary Budget Officer has shown that once you factor in the total cost, the opposite is true, most pay more. What is more infuriating is that taxes already make up about 50% of the cost of alcohol in Canada and the federal government just adds more every single April 1.
