BDNSHH February

Lennart Koopmann and the cool kids at Torch will be hosting this meetup.  Great chance to check out their new space and ask them about graylog2 at the break.  They are promising bevies AND pizza just to show the rest of us how it is done.

Astrid Ritscher will be giving a practical intro to document-oriented dbs with MongoDB.  Frank Felix will give a practical talk about BigTable and BigQuery.

Astrid Ritscher: NoSQL – Live Concepts

This talk shows and demonstrates concepts of a document-oriented NoSQL database. Flexible database schema, transaction model, performance by horizontal scalability and agile development will be explained and demonstrated in MongoDB. How does a document look like in MongoDB? How are documents being searched? Which concepts are the basis of sharding? How are data replicated? This session gives short and vivid answers.

Frank Felix: Case study

Storing and analyzing the German commercial register (Handelsregister, Insolvenzregister and Bundesanzeiger) as semi-structured data in Google BigTable and BigQuery.

If you need to practice for the practice talk you are welcome to do it on the MongoDB Meetup next Monday :-)

Thank you for the opportunity, but I want to do it the first time at Lehmanns. We can discuss on Monday whether the talk makes sense at a later MongoDB Meeting, may be with a little different focus.
