Hive on ACID and v2 by Alberto Romero

Details
Hive on ACID and v2 by Alberto Romero (Hortonworks) and Joan Viladrosa (Billy Mobile)
The 28th of July we'll have an especial session by Alberto Romero from Hortonworks. He will be giving us an introduction to Hive 2.0 and the new ACID features in Hive. Followed by a short talk by Joan Viladrosa the Big Data architect at our host Billy Mobile and present us their implementations of these new features and the streaming interface to Apache Storm.
Talk description:
Apache Hive is the most commonly used SQL interface for Hadoop. Hive provides convenient SQL query engine and table abstraction for data stored in Hadoop. Until recently, Hive did not support updates, deletes, or transaction isolation. This talk will cover the intended use cases, architectural challenges of implementing updates and deletes in a write-once file system, performance of the solution, and details of changes to the file storage formats and transaction management system. As well as going over the new features the Hive community is working for the 2.0 release, that includes significant new features and performance improvements.
The new ACID features in Hive also allow for a very low latency ingestion of streaming data from tools like Storm and Flume, which Joan will later show us a real use case of these features and their implementation at Billy Mobile.
