Calling all developers interested in Data Science (and Big Data)!

Big Data University (http://bigdatauniversity.com) in partnership with Lighthouse Labs (http://lighthouselabs.ca) is proud to invite all developers to attend a free 3-hour workshop.

Details:

Venue: Lighthouse Labs, 46 Spadina Ave, Suite 400, Toronto, ON

Date: Saturday, June 25th, 2016

Time: 2pm - 5pm

In this workshop you will learn:

• How to transition from a language such as Ruby (popular with developers) to another one such as Python (popular with Data Scientists)

• How to create a simple analysis and data visualization from a dataset

• How to build a recommendation engine such as the ones you see in Netflix (e.g: Because you watched “Spiderman” you may also like “Ant man”)

• How to work with Big Data using Spark

Pre-requisites:

• Developer experience in any area (Web development, mobile, game, etc)

• Familiarity with Python or similar language

Limited seats available!

Workshop selection criteria:

Because of limited seating, we will be selecting the participants who can join this event, and will send confirmation emails to those individuals.

When registering please indicate in the registration form (under the field “What do you do?”) what problem as a developer would data science and big data skills help you with. Also indicate why you want to join this free workshop. Answers to these two questions will be used as the criteria to select the participants.
