Entrepreneurs! Fun, Hands-on Business Education Series!

(updated topics for 2/21 and 3/6) When you’re launching a business, it’s overwhelming to find focus and energy to conquer all the learning curves on your own -- so come learn with a group of your peers! These fast-paced drop-in workgroups cover the many critical skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur. We’re all at different points on the learning curve, so we’ll teach each other as we find our market, build our websites, create email lists, etc.

Each 2-hour workgroup covers a different topic, up to three topics a month – drop in for any topic you need to fill in your repertoire!

Cost: $5-15 suggested donation per 2-hour workgroup

Downloading and learning to use common software tools Planning the navigation and content of your website Creating a project plan for developing your website Writing a job description for your virtual assistant Developing three client conversion methods

2/14/12, 10-12am, Find your market online

How will your customers search for you online? Use common software tools to research your market, and end up with an effective list of metatags and terminology for your business. Discuss how to write for your market. Figure out what URL you need for your business and research availability.

2/21/12, 10-12am, Website Planning: Design, Content map and Web Hosting

Group discussion of effective vs ineffective webpage/website layouts, then draw each type of web page you need. Procure your URL and web hosting to prepare for next class. Results: List your site’s content features, create an action plan for what you need to write. Write your home page content or brainstorm for each piece of content. Figure out your website's features. Create a task list to plan your site development.

3/6/12, 10-12am, Website Development: Create a WordPress site

Download WordPress, pick a template and find the components you need to implement. Put two hours into developing your website!

3/13/12, 10-12am, Create Facebook fan pages and Meetup groups

Create an inspiring Facebook fan page so you can use it for marketing and driving traffic to your website. Learn how to use Meetup groups to market your events.

3/20/12, 10-12am, Handling money on your website

Handling money transactions – terminology, shopping cart, payment processor FAQs, pros/cons and pointers.

About your facilitator: Reverend Octavia Brooks of Metaphysical Project Management has lead group discussions and planning sessions for over 12 years in her role as a project manager. She will create an agenda and time flow and help make sure each person gets results. Octavia can’t claim be an expert in each topic that is planned, but she will source relevant tools and resources to make each workgroup effective. Octavia will also introduce spiritual tools and tips to achieve the highest purpose of each meeting.
