Welcome to Beginning Photographer Workshop.
Every profession demands that you practice your craft. Whether it be free throws and three pointers, or rehearsing before a performance, to get better, you must practice. My plan is to offer to the beginners or near beginners or even the not-so-beginners a chance to sit down, walk around, or some other version thereof, in a low stress, interactive, collaborative and otherwise creative learning environment. The ultimate goal will be to come off of the auto or pre-program function and move toward that mysterious M setting.
Ambitiously, I will begin to offer these workshops two to three times a week with the idea of working through the variety of camera functions. We'll focus (pun semi-intended) on one function or photography aspect per workshop, working our way through aperture, selective focus, shutter speed, compositional elements, and more as subjects come up. After a review, we'll start using our cameras emphasizing that workshops topic. There will be an image review and constructive critique, potentially towards the end of the workshop or some version of online. Sharing and critiquing are highly suggested, but not mandatory (yet...). As sharing and critiquing are an invaluable tool in learning the art, it is highly encouraged.
If you miss a workshop, no worries, they will invariably repeat. And, while it would be great to take them as a series, each workshop is self-contained and can stand on its own.
So get your camera out, and bring a creative spirit and beginners mind. It's time to get away from the safe shot and auto mode... time to start exploring your inner creative.
Every profession demands that you practice your craft. From free throws to rehearsals, things become more natural with repetition. These workshops are designed for just that: an opportunity to practice and to get out and discover what you and your camera are capable of.
The primary focus of this workshop will be exploring aperture and f-stops. Read more

“ Good for beginner photographers. The workshop offers you a chance to take your camera off its "Auto" setting to get a better understanding of how to control f-stops and shutter speeds. ”
“ Just like being on a team I get a much better workout when there is a coach and teammates, well Ricky gets to be my coach and all of you my teammates. ...
