As you see on the Star Trek Meetup Baton Rouge calendar, STARFLEET is having a joint Regional Conference March 16-18, at the Quality Inn & Conference Center in Hammond! Even if you're not a member of SFI (as we call it), this is open to the public, and is a wonderful opportunity to find out about STARFLEET (http://www.sfi.org), find out which conventions are the "must do" this year, find out how people are surviving until the next Trek movie, and basically just relax with fellow Trekkers. With some partying inbetween. (of course!). This will be the last Summit that I can see being "local" (as in Louisiana) for quite some time (as in within 5 years) because this Summit is on a Rotation schedule and will be going through Texas.
Another reason why this is the *MUST DO* summit is because we are sharing it with another Region-so this will be a GULF COAST gathering of Star Trek fans. That's why I'm encouraging it as an opportunity for local fans to take advantage of it! GET YOUR GEEK ON FOLKS!!!!
A complete list of weekend events can be found at
There are education panels, gaming, collectibles, cooking..you name it, the programmers tried to include it! A lot of the panels are back upon request because we are bringing you "THE BEST" of past years.
And yes, the USS CORSAIR's FULL SCALE SHUTTLEPOD BEIGNET WILL BE THERE!!!! If you missed it in the theater during the last Star Trek movie, this is a prop that is really, really, incredible and has to be seen in person to be appreciated. Other chapters are bringing their stuff along for show and tell/brag. And yes, some of us will be in 'uniform', but if you don't have one, don't stress about it. We'll just assume you're on a First Contact mission.
However, to attend...and I can't make this clear enough....
PRE-REGISTRATION IS A MUST! THERE IS NO AT THE DOOR PRICE!!!
The price of admission includes a BBQ lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers, so to make sure we have enough to feed everyone, we need an exact head count.
To register for the Summit, transport to
I know this type of meeting may seem OMG! WHAT! I WON'T FIT IN!!!
But think of us invading a hotel with Star Trek fans and room parties. It will be a fun weekend, but it will be a WHOLE LOT more fun if we can have as many Louisiana crew as possible. Even if we only see you once in a while, I'd love to have you come and hang out.
If you have any questions, please let me know!
