Brandywine Valley Progressive Women's Book Club is an informal book discussion meetup for those of us that enjoy contemplating ideas, discussing themes and characters, and how they relate to each of us personally. Our books' subjects range from social issues and politics to spirituality, world culture, his/herstory and include both classic and contemporary literature. Our choices are intended to expand our world view and be in keeping with a liberal, Democratic, progressive ideology. As Progressives, we are respectful of traditions but are most interested in the innovations and adaptations that improve the quality of life for society as a whole. We may read conservative authors, from time-to-time, as we strive to be mindful of alternate points of view. Through this process, it is hoped that we learn a little more about ourselves, each other, and those that share the planet with us.
We meet every six weeks, or so, at either a local restaurant, bookstore, park, or one of our homes. Members take turns selecting a book list. About six weeks before our meetup we vote for a book from the list. The person that chooses the book list will lead the discussion at the meetup. Members are encouraged to bring their comments, observations, and critiques.
Occasionally we'll have a group get-together outside of our book discussion meetup. These get-togethers offer an opportunity to get to know each other just a little more personally.
Its content is only available to members.
To learn more, contact the organizer directly, or you can go ahead and join the group.
