http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/3/8/9/2/event_99614482.jpeg Join us for a scenic ride to Fulton, MO, where we will visit the Winston Churchill Memorial and the Church of the Saint Mary the Virgin, Aldenmanbury. (This 12th century church, redesigned by Christopher Wren in 1677 after the Great Fire of London, sits on the campus of Westminster College in Fulton. During World War II, the church had again burned, this time by an incendiary bomb, and was in ruins. To commemorate Winston Churchill's landmark speech on the campus of this college, it was decided to reconstruct this church at its current site in 1966.)
We will also see the Breakthrough - The Cold War Memorial. (One year after the November 9, 1989, fall of the Berlin Wall, President Ronald Reagan dedicated Breakthrough, an 11-foot-high by 32-foot-long structure sculpted from 8 sections of the Berlin Wall by artist Edwina Sandys, granddaughter of Winston Churchill, as the centerpiece of the Cold War Memorial on the Westminster campus.
We'll have lunch at the Old Post Office.
