There is a growing number of skeptic groups which call themselves 'evidencialists' — those who place their confidence (belief) in only those claims with sufficient evidence.  This is one of those groups.

This is also the fifth chapter of Backyard Skeptics. There is a chapter in Villa Park, South OC, LA and Long Beach. Our group is one with a heavy atheist 'bent'. If you don't believe in any supernatural deity or paranormal ability (woo-woo), this group is for you. We meet once a month on the third Wednesday or Thursday (alternating) at a local eatery.   We also have many other events such as field trips, movie nights, local hikes, overnight camping trips and skeptic pub nights. We have a voluntary donation of $5 on Jan 1 and July 1 which you can make at our meetings. Or you can make a donation at Backyardskeptics.com with a credit card.

You can freely talk about your skepticism and non-belief without religious dogma with other heathens at our meetings. Our goal: To support the atheist/agnostic/skeptic/humanist community with local meetings, potluck parties, and other social events. To spread the word that skeptics and non-believers are good and moral people and to promote secular values and the separation of church and state. We cherish humanistic values over any supernatural superstitions and encourage others to look at their worldview with critical thinking skills.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
