Tell us what brought you to the world of skepticism, agnosticism or atheism?

I was raised in a Catholic household but from an early age I have struggled with religion and the existence of God. Science has always played an important role in my life and over the past few years I have had time to critically examine religion from a purely rational viewpoint. I have come to the conclusion that at best if a God exists it is the God of Einstein or Spinoza. However I still struggle emotionally and have become very interested in the field of neuroscience and the reasons and theory’s of why our brains evolved with the ability to create a God to explain the mysteries of the world. I can understand how the concept of God helped to resolve the questions that early man posed to himself, but I can't understand why our minds (including mine) still wrestle with this question when we have rational explanations, back by observation and experimentation that eliminates the need for the supernatural.

Tell us if you are and atheist, agnositc, or a believer in religion.

I have a hard time defining what I am right now. I am a rationalist and at best could be considered a Deist.

Hi my name is Wayne and I'm searching for a group of individuals that share a similar world view as mine. I'm very open-minded and I'm eager to listen to other "rational" explanations and theory’s regarding life and the cosmos.
