Astronomy Night Star Party at the Pier

Details
Seal Beach Astronomy Night – Saturday May 24th at 8:00 PM
We will begin our tour of the sky with Jupiter viewed thorough powerful telescopes that reveal interesting cloud formations on the planet along with the famous Galilean moons. Jupiter is a favorite because it’s really a thrill to see so much detail on a planet so far away. As the evening progresses we will turn our focus toward the amazing ringed planet Saturn. Just about everyone who gets a good look at Saturn finds it an unforgettable (and sometimes life-changing) experience. When I was about 11 and viewed Saturn for the first time, it literally put me on scientific path of study that I am still on today. Later in the evening we will explore a variety of sparkling star clusters, double stars and other celestial jewels. If you have never seen planets and deep space objects through a large telescope, you will be amazed!
Many wonders await discovery at the eyepiece of powerful telescopes provided by our hard-working volunteer astronomers. Seal Beach Astronomy Nights are co-hosted by Bogart's Coffee House, our favorite purveyor of hot drinks and goodies to keep you warm while you are waiting for your turn at the eyepiece. We set up the telescopes right across the street from Bogart's which is located at 905 Ocean Avenue just east of Main street (just left of the Seal Beach pier)
As always, if you have a telescope, please feel free to bring it to Astronomy Night. You don’t have to be an expert and it's rewarding to share anything you know with someone else. These events are great for kids of all ages and best of all provide serious entertainment at an unbeatable price. (Free, that is!)
