On April 12-13, hackers in nearly 100 cities (https://2014.spaceappschallenge.org/location/) around the globe gathered for the Space Apps Challenge (https://2014.spaceappschallenge.org), an international hackathon focused on space exploration.

Led by NASA, hackers used open data to create hardware, software, mobile applications, data visualizations and platform solutions.

So what was built? And how far into space is it going? Join Space Apps Challenge organizer and flight engineer, Nate Parsons, to find out. There'll be presentations on Fold Your Own Universe (https://2014.spaceappschallenge.org/project/fold-your-own-universe/) and GravityApp (https://2014.spaceappschallenge.org/project/gravityapp).

You'll also learn about a few jaw dropping satellite projects Nate's been working on: CUSat (http://cusat.cornell.edu/), Violet (http://cusat.cornell.edu/violet), Van Allen Probes (http://vanallenprobes.jhuapl.edu/), and Solar Probe Plus (http://solarprobe.jhuapl.edu/).
