Guest Speaker Jim Jackson, HTML5 for .NET Developers

***Limited Space Available***

***Laptop Suggested to Follow Along***

Until recently, JavaScript, HTML and CSS were the explicit domain of web developers. Times have changed though, and you can now use JavaScript almost everywhere. Node.js on a web server can talk directly to native JavaScript clients in any browser and even to native Windows 8 apps. HTML and JavaScript source can also be run through various tools to build native applications for iOS and Android. This presentation will be a brisk jog through the process of creating a Node.js server in the Windows Azure cloud to serve up full duplex chat communications. We will then build a quick HTML web page client to talk to that server and show how the same code, with minor modifications, can be used to build a Windows 8 Chat Application.

Jim Jackson is the co-author of HTML5 for .NET Developers, available now at and on Amazon. Jim has worked on rich HTML5 web applications for clients like Vogue, Rolling Stone and Playboy and is currently building an HTML5 game for the Windows App Store.
