I've hears good things about violent python. I'm not a pentester so I can't say anything else about it. (Would love to get into it) As for getting started with python on Linux you should have 2.7.3 installed by default. I recommend you install python-pip as well to make installing various python libs easier. Virtualenv can be used to manage different packages and different versions of python. The Python are an invaluable source of info and code academy is a big help. Good luck :)

Presently, my work is very limited to prepare data structure formats (thats what we call) i.e., data represented in the form of nested dictionaries and lists and then bring it to JSON format. Am very happy to listen more on lists, dictionaries, looping and anything else related to python. I am not using any IDE here, just jumping into a terminal and coding in a normal vi editor. But I have used Eric, IEP, spyder IDEs on hobby projects but didn't completed;( oops.. thank you.

    Looking forward for the discussion..

Looking for a session on which data/object type to choose in different scenarios..
Eg, when a dataset is given in csv format, like
    customer_id(unique), transaction_id(unique), transaction_date, product_id, transaction_value

sometimes, the customer_id maybe non unique.
    and similar questions.
