The idea simply is to meetup and exchange practical ideas for applied rationality. There are quite a few resources on the lesswrong site itself for the same purpose. One good starting point is this http://lesswrong.com/lw/crs/how_to_run_a_successful_less_wrong_meetup/.
I have couple of ideas, I picked up from there.(clicker training, Fermi calculations, etc...). We can also do some brainstorming about which ones sound useful.
