Dr. Barefoot Mark Cucuzzella started the Freedom's Run in West Virginia in 2009 and it has grown into a huge event with a Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and Kid's Run. I'm not ready for a marathon, but I asked Mark how barefoot friendly the Half and 10K courses are. He said each course has about 1.5 miles of gravel road, but the rest is pavement etc. I'm going to run the 10K barefoot and am determined not to carry shoes for the gravel part. I will just slow down and really get the form correct to get me through. I will post an update on where to park. Some people travel there on Friday and spend the night. I will probably drive and head straight to the coffee shop in the address below.
