"Beer Run" with Christopher McDougall

McDougall loves a cold beer on Friday afternoons.  There's just one problem: he's going to be starting at Columbus Circle, and the cold beer is in Brooklyn.

Come join us at 4:45pm for THE BEER RUN.

*leave columbus circle at 5pm on the dot (large fountain at entrance to the park)

*arrive at 4th street pub in brooklyn (park slope)

76 4th Ave
(between Bergen St & St Marks Pl)
Brooklyn, NY 11217

The entire run should be about 8 miles at a very gentle pace.  We are probably going to run down the westside highway around the island to the Manhattan Bridge, then straight into Park Slope.

This is a wonderful social event boosted with star-power from Chris. Liked that it was a go-at-your-own-pace run and comfortable. Awesome bar to meet at - turned more than a few heads with our crew. Would do it again, absolutely.

Good fun! I have some HD footage from my phone that I have neither the creativity or the tools to do anything cool with. If anyone else who was taking footage/pictures was going to do something with it, let me know and I'll upload what I have to Dropbox or something for you.

Good run. Sorry to leave early. I went as far as Jay St./Metrotech Center and at about 6:30 I figured I'd better get back home; as I wrote before, I was kind of pressed for time. Besides, I was starting to get a blister, probably from trying to go too fast. It was my usual "hot spot." Anyway, it was great seeing you all, although by the end I was kind of by myself. I took the C train back to the West Side, and was home by 7:10. Other than the little blister, I'm doing great. Enjoy the run tomorrow.

My plan to is to park in Williamsburg and run from there under the BQE. See you all at the bar. Estimate for me is getting to the bar between 5:30 and 6. Figure it should be easy to spot the wolf pack! See you all tomorrow.

Hey! I am new to this group and can't run that far anymore, so I was wondering if I started running in the city and met you at Manhattan Bridge, what time do you think you would be there, also are you guys running down Canal St to the bridge? Thanks!

you can wear whatever footwear you'd like. definitely do not jump from 2 miles to 8 miles if you haven't worked up to it!

I just did my first barefoot run this weekend and it was only 2.2 miles. I felt great, but am concerned about doing 8 miles barefoot. Can I participate with sneakers, or maybe swap partway through, or is this barefoot-only?
