We are delighted to announce that BathSPARK's Late Summer BBQ is back!

A big thank you to our sponsors Gradwell, Ashfords and Complete Control whose generous support has enabled us to once again provide you with free drinks and a fantastic BBQ at The Green Park Brasserie on Wednesday 4th September. And a thank you to Rik & Ripe Digital who will, once again, be kindly printing the name badges for us.

This year, the summer BBQ will play host to BathSPARK's first "Hi, I'm looking for..." pitching session. Essentially, we will be inviting people to sign up if they want to pitch the room for anything that can help their business. So, if you are looking for staff, premises, investment or simply some feedback on your idea (or anything else), you should use this chance to stand up and pitch the 100 BathSPARK attendees.

The stand up pitches are to last no more than 2 minutes. The format is you have to state what you are looking for at the start of your pitch (e.g. "I am looking for feedback on my new startup idea", or "I'm looking for a designer to help me with my app", etc...) and then proceed to explain who you are/what it is you do.

Anybody who wants to pitch needs to sign up in advance - please just email one of the organisers with your details. We will not allow general sales pitches (e.g. "Hi, I'm looking for customers, and this is what my business does), we are looking for people/companies who have specific needs.

We have capacity for 100 people, however, we will release the tickets for the BBQ in batches to give everyone a chance to get theirs. This is an extremely popular event, and tickets will be in high demand, so please make sure you will be able to attend when you RSVP. Obviously, if you sign up successfully for a pitching slot, you will automatically get a ticket.

Thanks and we hope to see you on the 4th!

Thanks everyone. Summary: I need help building a compelling online presence, to not only explain Avant Garde Science, but also what it means. Info at www.avantgardescience.com.
There is also a subliminal self-hypnosis program in the testing stage which automatically induces biased expectations – thus simulating the effect of doing visualisations – while you are working at the computer. I would like to get this finished and open source it if anyone is interested.

Thanks for letting me gate-crash the event last night. I only found out about it yesterday afternoon and was too late to RSVP. Enjoyed the 2 minute pitches, especially the Self-Hypnotising App - legendary. Looking forward to making some of the breakfasts over the months ahead.

    Thanks to everyone!

It would be handy to have everyone who spoke posted a quick reminder of what you are looking for. Let me start:

    * Know a good object oriented coder, preferably with iPhone or Android experience? More info: http://www.officetime.net/blog/got-code/

    * Looking for an online marketing manager

PS - As I mentioned, if you haven't checked out The Guild in the Guildhall across from TK Maxx, check it out. It's a way funky co working space. More info: http://www.theguildhub.co.uk

Good catching up with folks and appreciated the opportunity to pitch for a great front-end developer/designer . Thanks to the sponsors and organisers!

That was really good. Nice to see everyone & to hear the pitches.

Although I'd echo Tree's suggestion: a summary email to the whole list (for those who couldn't hear, or couldn't make it) would be good.

Thought the 1-minute pitches was a good addition to the format.

Great to see such a good turn out :-)

Really good meetup, and met some very interesting people. I couldn't hear all the pitches from where I was standing near the back, and for the benefit of the wider sparkie group might it be worth sending a follow up email around with a couple of sentences about what each of the pitchers was looking for?

Great evening with some lovely people :-)

    Hi,
just spotted I missed this by 12 hours... :( any chance of adding 2 latecomers please? Both of us are BathSpark members...

    September 2, 2013

    • David Maher R.

Hi Jackie - that should be fine. Who is the other person?

      September 2, 2013

  • Kevin M.

Could I pls reserve a ticket - and (another) veggie burger? Thanks

    August 30, 2013

    • David Maher R.

You need to RSVP to the meetup to get a ticket for yourself. And if you want somebody else to come, you need to get them to join BathSPARK and RSVP to the meetup. We won't hold tickets for people on the door.

      August 30, 2013

  • Jamie R.

Any chance there will be any veggie burgers? +1 for me

    August 30, 2013

    • David Maher R.

There will be a veggie option. Either veggie burgers or veggie sausages.

      August 30, 2013

  • Anthony L.

Would love a burger, but I'll be in sunny* Blackpool

    * Sun may be replaced by other weather conditions without prior notice
