4th Sunday Outing: Fun on San Bruno Mt

Details

Summer fun - rationality is necessary but not sufficient

This Fourth Sunday Outing of the Bay Area Humanists recognizes the autumn equinox. We have had some interesting and heavy conversations in our last couple of meetings so let’s lighten things up and celebrate the end of summer with laughter and song. Everyone knows a couple of jokes. Bring a picnic lunch (and maybe something to share) and your best story, song or anecdote and we’ll party our way into a new season.

Our meeting place for this outing will be an always seen but little visited gem of a park on top of San Bruno Mountain (http://www.co.sanmateo.ca.us/portal/site/parks/menuitem.f13bead76123ee4482439054d17332a0/?vgnextoid=cb7bc8909231e110VgnVCM1000001d37230aRCRD&cpsextcurrchannel=1) just a few minutes from downtown SF. Let’s meet at the West end of the covered bridge in the Colma BART station parking lot at 10:30 and convoy to the park, or meet in the park at the picnic grounds at 11:00. If you drive yourself, from the Colma BART station in Daly City, head East on San Pedro Rd. (San Pedro becomes E Market Street and then Guadalupe Canyon Parkway). Just stay on the same road until you reach the top of San Bruno Mountain. Then look for the park entrance on your left. There is a $5 parking/entrance fee per vehicle. We’ll meet in the parking lot.

The picnic grounds on the top of the mountain have an amazing view of the city and Bay. There is also a easy, 3 mile loop trail with more views of the airport, South Bay and the Pacific. The approximately 1 hour hike is optional. You can just relax in the picnic area if you do not want to do the hike.

Prepare for sun and bring a friend!
