"How I Became a Nun and Disappointed Mother Teresa" -- Mary Johnson

The Ohlone Psychology Club Speaker Series presents...

"How I Became a Nun and Disappointed Mother Teresa" by Mary Johnson

I'm happy to announce that the Ohlone Psychology Club will be continuing its Speaker Series this semester with a talk by Mary Johnson, author of "An Unquenchable Thirst." CLICK HERE to watch Mary introduce you to this story.

In her memoir, Mary recounts her 20 years working with Mother Teresa of Calcutta as one of the "Missionaries of Charity." In her talk, she will discuss what led her to join the group, what life was like inside this secretive and cloistered organization, and the revelations and hard truths that led her to leave and eventually become a non-believer. She will also discuss in detail the psychological forces that keep people in groups, even long after they have lost faith in its cause, or realized that it doesn't operate the way members believed it did.

This talk will be held in Ohlone College's Smith Center for the Performing Arts. The link below will take you to our web page where you can get the address and a campus map.

CLICK HERE for details and tickets.  Tickets must be purchased through the web site or at the Box Office on campus.  No tickets are sold through the MeetUp page.

Is anyone driving down from Berkeley? The person I invited (and who was to drive) may not go, so, I would be grateful to go with others from the Berkeley area?

Will we meet each other there and sit together? This is my first event.

Hi, Jeannette! People are free to make their own plans to meet up and/or sit together, but it's not an official Bay Area Atheists event. Hope to see you there! (I'll be the one on stage, running the event. Feel free to say hi!) :)

Hey, all! Please do purchase your tickets (and parking permit) in advance. These talks tend to sell out, and I don't want anyone disappointed.
