An autumnal view of wild bird migration in the Western flyway of North America... Meet at 11:00 a.m. (check the BART Schedule) at the Union City BART station. We will ride a bike lane to nearby Alameda Creek trail, mostly flat round trip of 25 miles (there is one short moderate hill section)- mostly asphalt trail w 1 mile of packed pea gravel along intertidal waterways of Alameda Creek. Bring cameras, binoculars and smiles for shimmering vistas of Great Blue Heron, flocks of white Pelicans, Canadian geese, Mallards, Egrets, Turkey Buzzards, Hawks, Meadow Lark warbling in the Bay breezes and more... Bring your own sack lunch, and or food to share, plenty of fluids and water. Wine, cheese & bread anyone? We will picnic at Coyote Hills Regional Center. Bathroom facilities are at BART and the Regional Center. If you are ever going to start riding with us, this is one of the most beautiful trails in the Bay area.... Dust off your bike, get out your helmet & gloves, DO THE ABCD QUICK CHECK.. AIR, BRAKES, CHAIN, CRANK & D'HELMET. Helmets and good working bike required. Donations of $10 (sliding scale) is appreciated to defray website /research & other expenses, scholarships available. No one is turned away for lack of funds.
