Details
Agenda below. Pizza and bevs at 6pm, talks begin at 630pm!
Alex Behm from the Impala team will provide an overview of the work-in-progress to support the complex types map, array, and struct in Impala. He will present the planned SQL extensions along with their execution strategies, and conclude with a progress report and future work in this area.
Henry Robinson from the Impala team will describe the project's model for contributions. Impala's source code has always been open, but at the beginning of this year, we began moving more and more of our development process into the open as well. In this short talk, he'll walk attendees through the process of contributing to Impala, what kind of contributions we're looking for, and where to find code reviews, patches, and open issues.
Josh Klahr of AtScale will demonstrate how Impala combined, with AtScale, can make Big Data analytics a reality. Includes a detailed demo of defining dynamic cubes on top of Impala, and issuing BI queries against such cubes with extremely low latency.
